Term 2 week 4-5

15/11/11
Today we learned chord progressions again. This time it was rather easy, and I understand the concept, but I can't easily improvise notes based on the chords being played. Following that, I just listened to Dhanes and my other classmates playing improvised songs. I also tried to learn the song of Pirates of The Carribean, which was written on the board.

16/11/11
Today we studied the minor relative scales for major scales. It was an easy lesson, and I used my guitar knowledge for most of the questions that Sir Herry asked. Following that I practiced my note reading from the guitar room white board, by trying to play a song written on it. The playing was still somewhat choppy and I need more practice.

22/11/11
Today we learnt about more minor scales, including the melodic and harmonic scales. I didnt really understand the topic yet at the time. We also had a short 5-minute quiz, which I did well. Because we had to rehearse the next day, I practiced my composition in instrument class. Mr John helped me out in playing the composition, and also to help understanding the minor scales.

23/11/11
Today I practiced my composition in front of the class. My playing wasn't too good, but I was able to read the notes. We also had another revision on the three minor scales. We also watched most of our friends perform. Following the rehearsal, I decided to hone my reading skills. This way I can just read my composition instead of just memorizing it, as it's less risky.

Term 1 Week 12 - Term 2 Week 1-2

18/10/11
Today we didn't have much to do. First I had to submit my MDW. I had not sticked my screenchots, but I guess it's fine. We then got a sheet of paper with music genre info inside. Using the sheet, Sir Herry asked us questions on the genres. Unfortunately, we then received a new task, which involved surveying people on their musical genre taste.

25/10/11
Today we first got back all of our compositions, including samples of compositions created byour classmates. We also had to make our 8-bar versions for our AA'BA', which was somewhat easy. In instrument class, I mostly watches Mr. John teach Dhanes songwriting tips and tricks. I also learned how to create accompanyingchords along with the melody.

26/10/11
Today we got this reflection booklet for the first time. Following that, we practiced "Indonesia Pusaka", and I'm probably bonna sing that with Jordi. Finally, we got our new compositions checked again. In instrument class, we watched a video of a youtube artist's rendition of Indonesia Pusaka, which was rather inspirational (despite the fact that it bears little resemblance to the real song).

1/11/11
Today, first off we wrote our final drafts of our compositions on the paper that Mr. Herry gave us. We also had to rehearse Indonesia Pusaka again, as we had the assessment tomorrow. In instrument class, we then learned several chords for Indonesia Pusaka, in case any of us wanted to use the guitar. It was played on the D key, and I also got to practice my composition there.

2/1/11
Today, we had our assessment of singing Indonesia Pusaka. Some of the singing was really good, like Shafiera and Astri's performance. My performance on the other hand, was ok in my opinion. I was rather nervous as usual, but I think I was able to pull through in the end. I really have to find a way to face stage fright though.
